The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest health care accrediting body. Earning its accreditation means an organization has undergone an unannounced on-site survey and been measured against national standards for patient safety, quality of care, clinical documentation, staff qualifications, and continuous improvement. Accreditation is reviewed on an ongoing cycle rather than granted once.

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration licenses and regulates health care facilities across the state. A current AHCA license means Karuna operates under Florida’s regulatory requirements for clinic operation, clinical oversight, recordkeeping, and patient rights, and remains subject to state inspection.
Why this matters when you are choosing care
Behavioral health is a field where anyone can build a website. Independent accreditation and state licensure are two of the few signals that come from outside the organization itself — they are earned through review by people whose job is to look closely and who have no stake in the outcome.
